Plot summary
A vision of Dio sends JB out of his strict religious Midwestern home to Hollywood, where he meets KG, a street guitarist he worships as a rock god. KG agrees to teach him and lets him sleep on his couch, promising an audition for his band, the Kyle Gass Project, while JB cleans the apartment and buys him weed. When JB learns KG is unemployed and living on his parents' money, the two become equals, and KG gives him a guitar. Calling themselves Tenacious D after matching birthmarks, they learn of the Pick of Destiny, a pick cut from Satan's chipped tooth that lends its owner supernatural skill. JB sets them on a quest to steal it from the Rock & Roll History Museum.
