Plot summary
The plane goes down in the East African jungle, in the Kenya Colony, and five people survive it: Gamage Dean, Diana Penrod, "Doodles" Fletcher, Carl Kraski and Dick Penrod. Tarzan pulls them clear of the wreck before it slides into a gorge and sets out to guide them out of the jungle. Warriors from Opar, led by their chief Ogonooro, want the strangers sacrificed to their lion god. A white hunter, Tusker Hawkins, travels with the group, and Diana turns down his advances. When Oparian warriors seize Diana and carry her off, Tarzan has to get her back and keep the others moving.
