Peter Arne
Biography
Peter Arne was a British actor who worked steadily for four decades, usually in supporting roles and often cast as unsmiling villains or German officers. Born in Kuala Lumpur, he learned his trade in British provincial repertory, and in 1953 the New Lindsey Theatre Club staged a play he wrote, No Stranger. More than 50 film appearances followed, among them Ice Cold in Alex (1958), The Moonraker, Conspiracy of Hearts and Victor Victoria (1982). On television he was a busy character actor through the 1960s and 1970s, appearing four times on The Avengers as different characters, twice on Department S, and in The Protectors, and he was a regular in the second series of Triangle in 1982. On stage he took the roles of the Duke and Dr. Sanson Carrasco in the 1968 London production of Man of La Mancha. He died in 1983.
