Sweet Bean (2015) on Netflix

Plot summary

In a small dorayaki shop on the outskirts of Tokyo, Sentarô fills pancakes with factory-made red bean paste for the locals and secondary-school pupils who come by. A debt that keeps growing weighs on him. When he posts a notice asking for a co-worker, Tokue, a woman in her mid-seventies with deformed hands, applies, saying she has always wished to work in a dorayaki shop. He refuses her, worried the job would be too hard for her. She comes back the next day with her own anko, and its taste and texture are far better than the paste he has been using. He asks her to make bean paste with him, admitting he never liked his own product. Word of the pancakes spreads, and Tokue begins serving customers and wrapping dorayaki.
