Plot summary
God creates the heavens, the earth, the seas and the animals, and then turns to man. His first attempt is Ugo Fantozzi, and the result disappoints him, so he tries again and makes Adam and Eve. Fantozzi is given a woman of his own, Pina. Eve talks him into committing the original sin on her behalf, and for that Fantozzi and Pina are driven from Eden, sentenced to serve Adam's and Eve's descendants forever. From there the story moves through one era after another, from the Stone Age onward, and among the people Fantozzi meets is his future colleague Filini.
