Sunday in the Park with George (1986) on Netflix

Plot summary

Georges Seurat is at work on his most famous painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, in the days before it is finished. He is trying to make art that carries meaning, and the artistic community scorns him. Dot is his lover, and he is trying to hold the relationship together; his work as a painter thrives while his love for her fades. A century later, George, an artist descended from Seurat and sharing his name, is burnt out, and he is searching for the artistic path to follow, though he does not yet know where to find it.
