Plot summary
Leroy, a fugitive criminal, and his accomplices Dinelli and Ackerman rob a bank in rural America. On the run afterward, they need somewhere to lie low, and they choose the farm of Adam Smith, hiding out in his barn. Smith is a reclusive farmer, and he is not caught off guard: he has prepared for their arrival and covers the three men with a gun. Lucy, Smith's granddaughter, is on the farm too. Smith will not simply let the men sit there until the law comes for them. He decides to put them in his cellar and to hurt them there before the police reach the farm.
