Plot summary
Warren Stacy repairs office equipment in Los Angeles. Women find his flirting creepy and turn him down, and he kills them; he works naked except for gloves so he leaves little evidence, and he arranges alibis. One night he slips out of a movie theater through a window, attacks Betty Johnson and kills her and her boyfriend in a wooded area, then returns and walks out with the departing crowd. Detective Leo Kessler and his younger partner Paul McAnn take the murders. Betty had grown up near Kessler, and she was a friend of his daughter Laurie. At the funeral, Betty's father tells Kessler that she kept a diary of her encounters with men, and Stacy overhears. He breaks into Betty's apartment to look for it, but Betty's roommate Karen Smalley comes home.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Two scenes written into the script were never shot, one showing the killer Warren with a 10-year-old girl in a park, and the finale was changed because Charles Bronson refused to get up close and personal with a naked Gene Davis.
- Producer Kohner was asked to come up with a fresh project and title, and 10 to Midnight was pitched to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival as an action-revenge film before any script existed.
- 10 to Midnight built a cult following on home video and cable, and its television broadcasts were heavily edited, substituting alternate scenes of the killer and his victims in their underwear for the fully nude ones.
