Plot summary
In 2006, three men set out on a crossing no human being has ever completed: running the length of the Sahara Desert. Charlie Engle comes from the United States, Ray Zahab from Canada and Kevin Lin from Taiwan. Each brings his own reasons, and all three share a love for Africa and a wish to prove that the impossible is possible. Their route passes through Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Libya and Egypt. The Sahara covers more than 3.5 million square miles, where daytime heat and freezing nights can take a life. Water shapes the journey: the runners need it every day, and many people they meet spend two and a half hours daily finding and cleaning their own. The documentary was filmed on location across the six countries.
