Starlet (2012) on Netflix

Plot summary

Jane, 21, shares a Los Angeles apartment with Melissa, Melissa's boyfriend Mikey and her Chihuahua, Starlet. Told she cannot repaint her room, she furnishes it from neighborhood yard sales, and an elderly woman named Sadie sells her a Thermos. At home Jane finds a stash of old bills inside it. She spends some of it, then goes to Sadie's house to give the money back, but Sadie dismisses her before she can explain. Jane keeps the money and begins following Sadie, curious about her. She pays off Sadie's taxi at the grocery store and offers her a ride home, and turns up at Sadie's bingo game. Sadie, a widow of forty years, has kept mementos of Paris but has never traveled abroad.
