Plot summary
Peter Parker earns a living as a freelance photographer for the Daily Bugle. A bite from a radioactive spider gives him super-strength, agility and the power to climb sheer walls and ceilings. He becomes the costumed hero Spider-Man and goes after a mysterious Guru who has been putting people under mind-control, among them a doctor and a lawyer, and sending them to rob banks. The Guru declares that ten New Yorkers chosen at random will be made to take their own lives unless the city pays him $50 million. The Daily Bugle carries the headline Are You One of the Ten People?

- The scene of Spider-Man crawling across an office ceiling and jumping to the wall was shot with cables and rigging hidden in ceiling tracks; stunt grips lifted stuntman and stunt coordinator Fred Waugh up, and a slider track let him scuttle down the hallway as the wires pulled him upward.
- The building-to-building swing was so expensive and dangerous that it needed two days of rigging; to avoid repeating it, the stunt was filmed from multiple camera angles so the spare footage could be reused in later episodes of the television series.
- The film's CBS premiere drew a 17.8 rating and a 30 share, making it the highest-performing CBS production of that entire year.
