Plot summary
Yelena Belova destroys a laboratory in Kuala Lumpur for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, the CIA director, who is erasing evidence of her ties to the O.X.E. Group's Project Sentry. Facing impeachment over that work, de Fontaine brings Yelena, John Walker, Ava Starr, and Antonia Dreykov to a hidden O.X.E. facility and orders them to kill one another. A fight follows, and a man with no memory, Bob, comes out of a suspended animation pod. Yelena, Walker, and Ava work out that de Fontaine meant them to burn along with the evidence, so they join forces to escape the trap. Touching Bob gives Yelena and Walker visions of their worst memories.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Thunderbolts* (2025)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Pugh was insistent on filming the scene where Yelena jumps off the top of the Merdeka 118 skyscraper herself, without a stunt double. Marvel Studios was initially reluctant for insurance reasons, but after she continually pushed the matter, including to Feige, she was allowed to perform the jump.
SPOILER
After the strike, Schreier and the film's creatives re-examined the script, decided it felt "bloodless" with no sense of who would survive, and reworked Taskmaster's role so the character is killed "early and dry" so that her death would resonate through the rest of the film.- Yeun exited in January 2024 due to a scheduling issue caused by the delayed production, and Lewis Pullman was revealed as the studios' top choice to replace him as Sentry. Geraldine Viswanathan was cast to replace Edebiri as Mel after she also exited due to the delays.
- The film's post-credits scene was filmed about a month before release on the set of Avengers: Doomsday (2026) by that film's directors, the Russo brothers, and was intended for Doomsday; Schreier was on set when the scene was filmed.
- Bob / Sentry's mental health arc was based on the experiences of a friend of director Jake Schreier, who said the Void's powers were inspired by images of the shadows left after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945.
