Plot summary
Andrea Wilcox, an aspiring actress from Dallas, has left her husband Keefe and their young son for New York City. Keefe finds her at a nude modeling shoot, forces her into his car and takes her to her apartment, where he shows her footage of their son. She escapes to the home of Christopher Neville, a director whose last picture was canceled. Neville has promised her a role, but the two argue and he strangles her, the act caught by a camera hidden in the room. When her body is found in Coney Island, police arrest Keefe. Neville pays for his lawyer and wins his release, then proposes a film about Andrea's life, with Keefe as advisor. Keefe meets Elaine Bernstein, who bears a strong resemblance to Andrea, and Neville casts her in the role.
