Plot summary
Les Franken is a comic book fan whose job as a meter maid leaves his life unremarkable, and he lacks the confidence to speak to Maggie, a quiet grocery store employee. He enrolls in a study of an experimental antidepressant, and Dr. Dobson tells him to take a single pill each day. The drug produces a psychotic reaction in him. Les records his experiences in a diary and feels nothing at first. After several days on the pills he believes he can float, and he grows sure that he is gaining superpowers. Convinced he has a new calling, he quits his job.
