Plot summary
Jim Norman accepts a teaching job in Liberty, Missouri, the town where he grew up, and brings his wife Sally and his son Scott with him. When Jim was nine, he watched a gang of greasers murder his older brother Wayne in a train tunnel, and his family moved away afterward. Three of the gang died soon after, struck by a train; the fourth survived. Back in Liberty, Jim has nightmares about the killing. Students in his class begin to die, replaced by boys who look like the gang, and the police grow suspicious of Jim.
