Plot summary

Paul and Suzanne Giraud are a married couple in a quiet Paris neighborhood. Suzanne fills her days with romance novels and wishes her husband were more exciting. New neighbors arrive: a young dancing team, Georgette and Maurice Lallé, who are bored with their marriage and alert for new flirtations. Suzanne is offended by their revealing costumes and expressive routines and asks Paul to speak with them about their morals. Paul calls on the Lallés and realizes that Georgette is a woman he once courted. She makes her affection plain; he does not respond and turns to her husband instead. Maurice returns the visit and finds Suzanne agreeable company.
