Lilyan Tashman
Biography
Lilyan Tashman was an American actress who moved from the stage into silent and sound films. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she worked as a model before breaking into vaudeville by 1914, and she went on to appear in Broadway productions that included the 1916 and 1917 Ziegfeld Follies, The Century Girl and Miss 1917. She made her first film, Experience, in 1921, then moved to Hollywood, where a supporting part in Mabel Normand's Head Over Heels helped launch a steady screen career. Her pictures included Pretty Ladies, Seven Days, Camille, So This Is Paris (1926), Craig's Wife and The Trial of Mary Dugan. With the arrival of talking pictures she made an easy transition, aided by a rich contralto voice and a delivery sharpened by her years on stage, and she appeared in Girls About Town in 1931.
