Plot summary
Rose Ross and her father, John Ross, have left Scotland for the American West, and a price sits on their heads. Jay Cavendish, a young Scotsman, follows, though in Scotland Rose knew of his feelings for her and treated him as a little brother. On the frontier he falls in with Silas Selleck, a bounty hunter, who takes his pay and guides him west. At a trading post, a Swedish couple attempts a robbery; the shopkeeper and the husband are killed, and Jay shoots the wife. Bounty hunters led by Payne are moving through the same country, and Jay keeps riding toward Rose.
