Jeffrey Thomas

Jeffrey Thomas is a New Zealand actor and writer who was born in Llanelli, Wales. He studied English literature and Celtic studies at Liverpool University, where he started performing and writing for student revues, and later earned a Master of Letters at Oxford. After moving to New Zealand in 1976, he taught poetry at Victoria University before he turned to acting and writing full time. His stage work included productions at Unity, Downstage, and Circa Theatres, and he played Gerry in the soap Close to Home. He became prominent as Inspector Sharky Finn in Shark in the Park and won a Best Actor honor at New Zealand's film and television awards in 2003 for Mercy Peak. Other roles include Jason in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, the narrator of Forgotten Silver (1995), and Scott Cameron in The Dead Room (2015). He has also written plays, co-winning the 1981 Play for Wales competition with Men of Steel.
