Plot summary
The Ark of Truth, an ancient device that could stop the Ori, is what SG-1 hopes it has found in a box uncovered on Dakara, but the box is a fake. Tomin, an Ori soldier, refuses a Prior's order to kill the team and travels back to Earth with them, where James Marrick, an IOA representative, is sent to question him. Daniel Jackson works out that the Ark lies in the Ori galaxy, and the team crosses the Supergate aboard the Odyssey with Marrick. The team learns from an anti-Ori resistance fighter that legend places the Ark in Celestis, the Ori capital city, and SG-1 beams down to the planet.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Stargate: The Ark of Truth (2008)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The film is the conclusion of Stargate SG-1's Ori arc, which began in the season nine episode "Avalon"; Cooper originally planned the story as a five- or six-episode arc to begin at the end of Season Ten and beginning of Season Eleven, but the Sci-Fi Channel canceled the series in August 2006.
- A pre-release workprint version of the film, with unfinished special effects, no credits and recorded in cropped 16:9, was leaked onto the Internet in mid-December 2007, well before the finished movie reached the public.
- Certain scenes were shot concurrently with those of the second film, Stargate: Continuum, and a tease leading into that film was planned for the end of The Ark of Truth, but it was dropped as it was felt this film had "too many endings".
- The production budget was $7 million and the film was shot in a 16:9 aspect ratio on 35mm film; Joel Goldsmith produced an orchestral score for the film, rather than a synthetic score as he did for episodes of the series.
- The U.S. DVD release earned MGM/Fox $1.59 million in rentals in its first week, another $1.38 million in the second and $1.19 million in the third, totaling $4.16 million, on top of $9.0 million in sales.
