Rory McCann
Biography
Rory McCann is a Scottish actor who worked as a painter, bridge painter, landscape gardener and carpenter before training at The Actor's Workshop in Glasgow in 1998. Born in Glasgow, he began as an extra in Willow (1988) and won the Scottish BAFTA for his television performance in the 2002 comedy drama The Book Group. He went on to television roles in State of Play, Peter in Paradise and Shameless, and made his Hollywood debut in Alexander (2004). His film work includes Hot Fuzz (2007), The Crew (2008) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019), while he is best known for playing Sandor Clegane, the Hound, across seven of the eight seasons of Game of Thrones. He also appeared in the BBC series Banished and narrated DNA Journey in 2022.
