Plot summary
In 2002, Lainey arrives at a Columbia University dormitory to lose her virginity to Matthew, her teaching assistant. Jake, also a virgin, claims her as his guest when security wants her out, and the two sleep together. Twelve years later in New York, Lainey has been cheating on her boyfriend Sam with Matthew; her therapist sends her to a meeting for sex addicts, where Jake appears. He cannot commit to anyone. On a friend's advice Lainey calls Jake, and over one date they trade stories of their sexual problems.
