Plot summary
Sintel once lived on her own, hunting for food, until she came upon a baby dragon with an injured wing. She healed him and named him Scales, and the two became close. Then an adult dragon snatched Scales away while he was flying, and Sintel set out after him, fending off beasts and warriors on a long and dangerous road. Ambushed on a wintry mountainside, she fights off her attacker and takes refuge in a shaman's hut, telling the shaman that she is looking for a dragon. The shaman says she has reached dragon lands and shows her the glyph on the spear.

- On 5 April 2014, Sintel was temporarily blocked from the Blender Foundation's official YouTube channel after Sony Pictures issued a takedown notice to YouTube falsely claiming it owned the copyrights to the film.
- Blender developers worked extensively to improve the software to meet the needs of the Sintel team. The improvements, in the user interface, particle system, sculpting, shading, render pipeline, constraints and smoke simulation, were released to the public with Blender versions 2.50 alpha through 2.54 beta.
