Plot summary
Monica Harris cohosts a Houston television program and wants the newly open host spot on Tea Time, which her cohost Elodie Price also wants. Monica has just buried her father and ended things with Andre after a photo of him with another woman. When her assistant quits, Simone Hicks arrives as the replacement, a newcomer from Virginia who resembles Monica closely. Simone is immediately devoted, praising Monica over Elodie and quoting Monica's late father, which leaves Monica puzzled. Simone takes a room in the home of Monica's neighbor, Mrs. Fletcher, and the two women drink together there, where Simone's jealousy over Monica's friend Bebe Morgan surfaces.
