Plot summary
Turk, a young hustler who knows powerful people, befriends Simon Sinestrari, a cynical ceremonial magician who lives in a storm drain and sells charms and potions for money. Simon takes his witchcraft seriously, and his aim is to become a god. A vagrancy arrest lands him in a cell for a night with Turk, who introduces him to a world of drugs, wild parties and Satanic rituals that include a goat. Among Turk's acquaintances is Hercules Van Sint, an aging hipster who hires Simon for one of his parties, where Simon meets Linda Rackum, the daughter of the district attorney, Willard Rackum.
