Plot summary
Brazos lies in Texas, a little-known town on the Brazos River. Before 1887 it was quiet and peaceful, a good place for families. Then the Nate Jones Gang rides in, and from the moment they arrive they run the place. The town turns so corrupt that travelers heading to other destinations choose longer routes so they never have to cross the streets of Brazos. Word spreads that Brazos holds more murderers and thieves than a hound carries ticks, and the outlaws far outnumber the honest and good who remain. Those who stay send secret messages to the Governor begging for help.
