Plot summary
A gunslinger steps into a saloon, and an unseen voice describes what he does, the way a narrator would in a western. The patrons can hear the voice, and it confuses them. The voice does not only describe what happens: it also speaks the thoughts of the characters in the room, and what it shares is mostly personal or humiliating to them. To find out whether the voice can be trusted, the patrons in the saloon test it with Sally, a woman in the room. They ask her to think of a number, and the narrator states the number she chose correctly.
