Plot summary
Eddie Quinn's wife Maureen drinks heavily and smokes while she is pregnant, and Eddie disappears for days at a time. When Kiefer, a neighbor, physically and sexually assaults her, Eddie shoots someone and is sent to a psychiatric hospital. Ten years go by before Eddie is released from the hospital and goes looking for the wife he has lost. Maureen is now sober and settled, married to Joey Germoni and the mother of three children, one of them Eddie's own daughter. Eddie wants to win Maureen back, and his return complicates the lives of everyone in the house she shares with Joey.
