Plot summary
Zach is an aspiring artist in San Pedro, California. He has delayed art school to work as a short-order cook, and he supports his family: Jeanne, his older sister, his father, who is disabled, and Cody, his five-year-old nephew, whom he looks after most of the time. Painting, surfing and his girlfriend Tori and his friend Gabe fill his free hours. Gabe's older brother Shaun, a published writer, returns home from Los Angeles, and he and Zach start surfing together.
