Plot summary
A professional skateboarder in Florida for more than a decade, Jesse Sorensen had a contract, money and a following. Six years past his prime, he no longer fits a sport driven by youth, and his team lets him go. Broke after a friend kicks him off the couch, he moves in with his grandmother, where his seventeen-year-old niece Samantha is staying too. Samantha has quit high school and spends her time at parties, taking the path Jesse once set, and she is involved with the town's top young skater. Meanwhile, a young skater named Strazz has taken Jesse's old place on the DieNasty Skate Team.

- Director Patrick Barry quit his day job to make Veer!, and when he could only raise half the film's budget from investors, he put the other half on his credit cards.
- The feature grew out of a 2009 short film of the same name, an experimental piece shot on black-and-white 8mm film with no dialogue and subtitles instead; Barry and co-writer Jesse Gay decided to expand it only after the strong reaction from the New York crowd.
- Production could not afford to shoot Veer! on 16mm black-and-white film stock, so Patrick Barry split the film into black-and-white film and color video portions.
