Plot summary
Nate McClusky has just left prison when he collects his daughter Polly, 11 years old, from outside her school. Polly asks about her mother, and he tells her everything is fine. At a motel he dyes and cuts her hair and shows her how to swing a bat, and she notices details that do not add up, including belongings taken from her home. She calls Detective John Park and tells him where they are. When Nate admits he lied to her, he says the gang that has marked him for death is coming for her too, and Polly decides to stay with him.
