George is tired of answering to Norman, who owns the salon, and wants a place of his own, but no bank will advance him the money. Felicia presses Lester to look at George as an investment. • Paul Simon composed "Silent Eyes" for Shampoo and sings it without lyrics under the final scene; Warren Beatty reportedly paid him $50,000 for it, the equivalent of $302,289 in 2025 dollars.
  • Shampoo inspired the 1976 exploitation film Black Shampoo, whose director Greydon Clark piggybacked on the title of a hit to offer an African American alternative; Clark said he chose a hairdresser's story because he did not want to make a film about a pimp, private detective or drug dealer.
