Plot summary
Roland Dalton is a burned-out Manhattan public defender who is leaving legal aid after one final case, the defense of Michael Jones. Jones, a crack dealer, is accused of shooting officer Patrick O'Leary to death in Central Park and says he fired in self-defense. Jones calls O'Leary a Blue Jean Cop, an officer who robs drug dealers, and his account points to a possible police corruption scandal. Dalton turns for help to Richie Marks, a renegade narcotics detective who works alone, and the two set out to clear Jones. The prosecutor is Susan Cantrell, a former love interest of Dalton's, and Dalton has a fiancée, Gail Feinberger.
