Trailer

Plot summary

ABC Sports has come to Munich for the 1972 Summer Olympics, and its president, Roone Arledge, builds the coverage around the emotions of the Games. Overnight, gunshots are heard and the control room picks up police radio traffic. Marianne Gebhardt, a German translator working with the crew, follows the broadcasts as the news emerges: the group Black September has entered the Israeli team's apartment and is holding nine athletes hostage, with a demand for the release of Palestinian prisoners. Geoffrey Mason, who runs the control room, turns the crew from sports to live news. He and Arledge bargain for airtime and find a way into the closed Olympic village, while Marvin Bader, the head of operations, warns that real lives are at stake.
