The Birdcatcher (2019) on Netflix

Plot summary

Before the war reaches her town, Esther Albertsen rehearses for a school play while German soldiers arrive promising that daily life will improve. Curfews, gunfire and fear replace those promises, and her father, a barber the town likes, ignores advice to leave until troops arrest him without explanation. Soldiers push into the family home, and Esther, now on her own, learns she must sometimes pretend in order to stay alive. Neighbors shelter her, among them Mrs. Jensen, who distracts her with card games and stories. Esther is then placed at the Dalgaard farm, which Johann runs while cooperating with the German occupiers. There she meets Ola Jensen, a boy of her age, and as searches and arrests spread, she shortens her hair and dresses as a boy to keep her background secret.
