Plot summary
Jane Grant is a single magazine assistant editor in New York. The invitation to her younger cousin's wedding asks her to bring a guest, and Jane has already told her aunt and her now-famous high school rival, Natasha Nutley, about a serious relationship. The boyfriend, however, is made up. Word of him reaches her aunt, who expects him at the wedding, so Jane has two months to find a man who fits her story, finish the guest list and save face. Her best friends, Eloise and Amanda, arrange a series of dates for her, and Jane goes from one blind date to the next.
