Maria Perschy
Biography
Maria Perschy was an Austrian actress whose film career began after she left Vienna, where she had gone at 17 to study acting, and moved to West Germany for further training. Her first major success came in Nasser Asphalt, opposite Horst Buchholz, and her work later took her by way of France, Italy and Britain to Hollywood. She appeared in American films including the 1962 biopic Freud, the Rock Hudson comedy Man's Favorite Sport? (1964) and the war movie 633 Squadron (1964), and she also worked in American daytime and prime time television. In 1967 she appeared in the Eurospy film Spy Today, Die Tomorrow, and in 1969 she filmed Castle of Fu Manchu with Christopher Lee and Richard Greene. By the late 1970s her American appearances were brief roles in shows such as Hawaii Five-O and General Hospital. She returned to Austria in 1985 and continued performing in plays and television series.
