Plot summary
Sachein arrives at a college in Ooty, carefree and easygoing, and falls for Shalini the moment he sees her. Shalini is counted among the popular and beautiful students there; she is short-tempered and arrogant, comes from an upper-middle-class family, and has many admirers at the college. Ayyasamy, who has spent about nine years studying there, tells Sachein all of this. Instead of courting her like the others, Sachein takes a different route and mocks her to her face, which irritates her. After he rescues her father from a bike accident, the two become friends. Santhanam, another student, loves Shalini too, and Manju, also at the college, likes Sachein. Santhanam becomes jealous of how close Shalini and Sachein have grown.

- Vijay sang the kuthu number "Vaadi Vaadi" for Sachein, recorded in the wardrobe of his house, which the film's music director had set up as a studio; it was his last song as a playback singer before "Google Google" from Thuppakki (2012), after a seven-year sabbatical.
- Two of the film's songs came from other films: "Gundu Manga Thoppukulle" is based on "Vangathota" from Abhi (2004), and Harris Jayaraj's "Vaseegara" from Minnale (2001) was re-used.
