Veronica Carlson
Biography
Veronica Carlson was a British actress known for her Hammer horror roles. Born in Yorkshire, she studied art at the High Wycombe College of Art and Technology, where college reviews and operettas turned her toward acting. She played minor parts in film and television before winning a role in The Magnificent Two (1967) after a judo demonstration. The Hammer Films chief James Carreras saw a photograph of her and cast her as Christopher Lee's co-star in Dracula Has Risen from the Grave (1968). Two Hammer films followed, Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed (1969), then The Horror of Frankenstein (1970). Her television work included Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), The Saint and Department S, and she was one of four leads in the thriller series Spyder's Web (1972). After a long retirement she returned for House of the Gorgon (2019), the year she entered the Monster Kid Hall of Fame of the Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards. She died in 2022.
