Plot summary
Thera is a Bronze Age island, and Yishharu, an apprentice bull-leaper, has just come home to it from Crete. With him is the woman he has married, Pinaruti. Earthquakes shake Thera when they arrive, and the volcano beneath the island is active. The account of these Bronze Age people is given as a docudrama, a narrator's voice carrying it. The destruction of Thera is presented as the event behind the legend of Atlantis.
