Tatyana Ali
Biography
Tatyana Ali is an American actress and singer whose career began in childhood, when she became a regular on the PBS educational program Sesame Street in 1985. Born in North Bellmore, New York, she landed her breakthrough as Ashley Banks on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, a part she played from 1990 to 1996. Music followed: her first album, Kiss the Sky, arrived in 1998, went gold, and yielded the Billboard Hot 100 top ten hit Daydreamin. Her film work includes The Brothers (2001), and she headlined the TV One series Love That Girl! while playing Roxanne on the CBS soap The Young and the Restless between 2007 and 2013. She later voiced Mrs. James for the Disney Channel cartoon Fancy Nancy. Her honors include NAACP Image Awards for Fresh Prince and for The Young and the Restless, and a 2011 Living Legacy Award.

Ali began her acting career at age six in 1985 as a regular performer on Sesame Street, and during her time on the show she appeared with Herbie Hancock, who used a sample of her voice to demonstrate his Fairlight CMI synthesizer.
