Plot summary
Three women reporters come to a California town for its Danish festival: Jennifer Fast, her sister Karen, and their friend Vicki Thompson. Their hotel reservation has fallen through, so when Ernest Keller, who owns a small museum, offers them cheap room and board at the farmhouse he shares with his wife Virginia outside town, they accept. Jennifer and Karen head to the festival, where Jennifer, who is writing a story about the celebration, runs into Tony Ross, the boyfriend she has separated from, and he asks her to stay and talk about where they stand. Vicki remains behind at the house to rest.
