Plot summary
Nick Tortano wants to become a made man, and as an associate of Boston mafia boss Sal Vitaglia he has yet to be trusted with his first contract killing. As the city's crime families wither, Sal advances more men, telling Nick to prove his loyalty and show the family more respect. After Nick insults another mobster, Tony Matazano, Sal orders him to apologize, and his friend George, an Irish thug with no mafia ties, mocks him for it. Ali, Tony's estranged daughter, also receives an apology from Nick for an insult made by his cousin, and the two take an interest in each other, though she does not like her father and worries about Nick's ties to the crime families. Nick and George rob a drug dealer George had befriended, and Nick's father, Vincent, refuses it as blood money.
