Plot summary
To cover tuition she cannot afford, Kylie Atkins takes a place in Girl House, the online pornography venture run by entrepreneur Gary Preston. Paying customers watch the residents through camera feeds running around the clock, and the women, among them Kat, Devon, Janet, Heather and Mia, choose what they do on camera. Gary tells Kylie that nobody can trace the house, which employs the security guards Steve and Big Mike. Anna, a former resident banned for heroin addiction, returns to ask Gary for another chance. Kylie's first striptease draws the attention of Loverboy, a devoted viewer who sends her a picture of his face during a private chat. Ben Stanley, watching with his roommate Alex, recognizes Kylie as the girl he had a crush on in kindergarten and pursues her.

- Director-producer Matthews came up with the idea while attempting to find a distributor for The Shrine, and after realizing that he had not seen themes of pornography and privacy explored in a slasher film, he recruited Gordon to write the script.
- Jon Knautz initially co-directed the film, but Knautz got an offer to direct another project; Matthews encouraged him to take the opportunity and finished directing the film himself.
- Actor Slaine said the killer's mask was so uncomfortable that it could only be put on or taken off with someone else's help, meaning it had to stay on his face for extended stretches during shooting.
- Matthews was influenced by Halloween and used that film's structure as a guide, and said the film serves as a cautionary tale about over-sharing on social media.
