1. First role

   While still a drama student at 19, Hewlett was picked by French director Antoine de Caunes for the lead in Monsieur N, a part that required her to learn French.

2. Early training

   At the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London, Hewlett earned a scholarship for a classical acting diploma course lasting three years.

3. Early training

   At the Royal Court Theatre's Young Writers program, Hewlett learned playwriting from playwright Simon Stephens. While in Los Angeles, she also attended The Groundlings improv school.

4. First role

   Hewlett's first professional stage role came at London's Finborough Theatre, where she appeared in Etta Jenks alongside Chris O'Dowd, Clarke Peters and Daniela Nardini.

5. 

   Behind the camera

   Hewlett became an executive producer on the occult noir film series that began with Act of Faith, and on the later feature The Show, in which she starred opposite Tom Burke.

6. Behind the camera

   Hewlett started working with Neil Gaiman in 2020. Together they reimagined a short story of his as a feature film.
