Biography
Sarah Michelle Gellar is an American actress who started on television as a child and became known for strong female characters in horror. She began her career at age five and first led the teen serial Swans Crossing (1992). Her breakthrough came on the soap opera All My Children (1993 to 1995) as Kendall Hart, a role that won her a Daytime Emmy Award. She gained international recognition as Buffy Summers on Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997 to 2003), earning a Saturn Award and a Golden Globe nomination. Her films include I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), Cruel Intentions (1999), Scooby-Doo (2002), Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004), The Grudge (2004), Southland Tales (2006), Do Revenge (2022), and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026). She also voiced characters in Robot Chicken, TMNT (2007), and Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and later starred in Wolf Pack (2023) and Dexter: Original Sin (2024 to 2025).

First role
Gellar was spotted by a talent agent in a restaurant at age four, and two weeks later auditioned for the television film An Invasion of Privacy, reading Valerie Harper's lines as well as her own and winning the part.
Getting ready for a role
Gellar agreed to appear in Scream 2 without reading the script, on the strength of the first film's success, and shot her scenes between work on Buffy.
Beyond film
Gellar sang in the musical episode "Once More, with Feeling", and the episode spawned an original cast album that came out in 2002.
Own stunts
Gellar competed in figure skating and once took third place at a regional competition in New York State. She also earned a black belt in taekwondo.
