Sally Eilers
Biography
Sally Eilers was an American actress whose screen career began in 1927 and who became a popular figure in early 1930s Hollywood. She was born in New York City, moved to Los Angeles as a child, and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1927. That same year she appeared in The Red Mill, a film directed by Roscoe Arbuckle. After small extra roles, she worked for Mack Sennett in comedy short subjects, often alongside her school friend Carole Lombard. In 1928 she was named a WAMPAS Baby Star. Eilers became known for high spirits and appeared mostly in comedies and crime melodramas, among them the 1931 film Quick Millions, with Spencer Tracy and George Raft. Her popularity declined by the end of the 1930s, and she acted in only a few more films, the last being Stage to Tucson in 1950.
