Biography

Born in Toronto in 1970, Russell Peters is a Canadian comedian, actor, and producer who began doing stand-up in 1989. His career took off after a 2004 set on the Canadian show Comedy Now! was posted on YouTube and went viral. He put out the comedy album Outsourced in 2006, then recorded Red, White and Brown at Madison Square Garden in 2008. Canada's Walk of Fame honored him with a star in 2011. Peters served as host of the Juno Awards in 2008 and 2009, winning a Gemini Award for the first of those shows. He played Max, an amateur comedian, in Duncan Jones's Source Code (2011), and produced Hip-Hop Evolution (2016), which received a Peabody Award and an International Emmy for Best Arts Programming.
