Plot summary
Ethan Barr is a vampire who has been alive for 417 years and has a thirst for blood. After a rough show, he fed on a heckler who had brought a gun, and he is now booked as the opening act on a comedy tour. At the top of that bill stands Pete Brennan, a middle-aged stand-up comedian who has chased laughs in dive bars and diners for half his life. A network special gives Pete his last shot at stardom, so he goes out on the road to prepare, sharing the lineup with an opening act he was not prepared for.
