Robert Hooks was born on April 18, 1937 in Washington, District of Columbia, USA as Bobby Dean Hooks. He is an actor, known for Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984), N.Y.P.D. (1967) and Passenger 57 (1992). He has been married to Lorrie Marlow since June 15, 2008. He was previously married to Yvonne Hickman and Rosie Lee Hooks.

About the name
On March 24, 1964, Hooks was the first to play Clay in Amiri Baraka's Dutchman. Roscoe Lee Brown advised him, and Hooks then became known as Robert Hooks.
First role
Hooks made his Broadway debut in April 1960 in A Raisin in the Sun, taking over the part from Louis Gossett Jr., who was leaving to do the film version.
Early training
Hooks trained at Philadelphia's Bessie V. Hicks School of Theatre. In February 1959 he saw A Raisin in the Sun during its Philadelphia tryout, and then he moved to New York to pursue acting.
